The Official Visitors Annual Conference (2009)

The Official Visitors Annual Conference was held in North Sydney on the 28^th and 29^th of May and was evaluated to be very successful by the attendees. The conference this year had the theme of ‘Recovery – A Philosophy of Care’ and was officially opened by The Honourable Barbara Perry, the Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Mental Health) who recognised the great achievements of Official Visitors in safeguarding the care and treatment of people being treated for a mental illness in NSW. Minister Perry also gave an eloquent outline of the move towards a recovery-oriented approach to mental health services in NSW.

Metropolitan recruitment for Official Visitors now open

Members of the community with experience and interest in mental health are invited to apply for appointment by the Minister for Health as Official Visitors to visit public and private psychiatric hospitals, units and community services in metropolitan Sydney and Newcastle and in selected rural areas.
